Hey everyone, it's about the middle of January, and there's only a short amount of time before some new games come out of the woodwork, like MAG (Massive Action Game). Unfortunately, I won't be able to play it until a couple months after it comes out, but I've got it reserved. Gamestop is usually good about that sort of thing and they tend to have exclusive/bonus codes or packs for most games if you pre-order. So, not a whole lot going on really. I started a facebook page. I never really thought I'd bother with social networking sites again, but, the girlfriend lured me to it, and I figured why not, what can it hurt.
I used to have myspace, but that didn't go so well, or atleast, after awhile I lost interest in it and how it was; not to mention there was some drama that made me stop paying attention to it (and I eventually deleted the page I had). Not too important, but, some social sites are good, others are bad.
I'm trying to enjoy the last few hours of my day off - and then it's sleeptime and off to another week of work, so not exciting. I'm eager to come home though, and hopefully time speeds up, or atleast feels like its speeding up.
I've been on youtube searching around for songs and stuff like that, and the other day I found the soundtrack for Killzone 2. =) I'm no expert on music lingo, but it's very high quality, movie-like sound, very orchestral feel to it. I'm always looking for good music, and this is some of the best I've heard in awhile (and it comes from a videogame no less).
Lately I've been tinkering around with the idea of writing, and unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to commit to much more than this blog until I get home - not enough hours in the day to be able to everything I want, or to relax and really get some good writing out. Hopefully some good ideas strike me, too. I can't even count the times I've gotten writers block or started writing something and then lost my mojo. It's tough work.
Anyway, that's all for now, I'll be writing more soon though hopefully! Take care everybody.

Technology Highlights
Another day closer to getting home, but still a couple months left. It's like there's a light at the end of the tunnel - or atleast, finally it's starting to appear, even if it's only a speckle far away. Today I was reading some interesting articles on CNN, specifically in the "Tech" section. You may recall, I stated was huge on technology, and while I won't get into all the articles I read, I did want to point out one or two.
http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/01/08/ces.ereader/index.html This article gives some general information about some of the new e-readers from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that we can expect to emerge sometime in 2010. I was particularly interested in the "Skiff Reader", which features some highly durable construction, it's thin, lightweight, very portable, and 11.5 inches. When you think E-Readers, you'll probably think of the Kindle. These take it a step (or two) further, and each one presented in this article has some neat features that the others don't. It's really up to your preference. Overall, I think these are fantastic.
Some of you may be well aware with how difficult it is for paper-bound products to compete with all of the digital/electronic media. Eventually, I expect these E-Readers will replace (with few exceptions) our bookshelves, newspapers, and all sorts of other things. For everyone who's on the green-conscious side, you're saving some trees! I say that light heartedly, but it is true. I'm sure there's some argument about how they'd use more energy, but I wouldn't entertain it (realistically it takes more resources to produce books, newspapers, etc, than it does for a few watts to run an e-reader, even on mass scale).
Either way, I'm really looking forward to e-readers, hopefully I can snag one of these ones right as they come out; mark me down for one Skiff Reader, please.
Besides that, there were a few other interesting articles on CNN, but I might get into those later, and by later I mean maybe tomorrow. =)

A New Frontier
Hey everyone, welcome to my blog. I'm Brandon. A little about myself... I'm twenty three years old, I'm a soldier by occupation and currently serving overseas, and until now I never thought I'd be writing a blog. I've got an interesting family, a wonderful girlfriend - Aubrie, and we're thinking of starting off our family with a fur baby, none other than a new puppy. I'm into some pretty intense music, mostly industrial, darkwave, aggrotech and EBM, but my tastes extend to anything from classical to rap, R&B to scores from movies, anime, and videogames.
Speaking of games, I'm a huge gamer, if you happen to have a playstation 3, add me (Accursed_Shade). You'll frequently see me playing first person shooters, such as Modern Warfare 2, and relatively soon, MAG. Aside of games, I've got a few hobbies - writing, reading, painting and assembling miniatures (something I'm getting into), paintballing; I'm always looking for something new to try out.
When I'm not deployed, I live in Pennsylvania and usually have various jobs, construction and things of that sort. I've got some college under my belt, but need to finish out my degrees. I'm interested in history, foreign languages (currently learning German), culture, etc. I love technology, I'm a huge technology buff.
I'm a tag-along for just about any movie really, I have endless appreciation for comedies and war-based dramas. A few of my favorite series? Battlestar Galactica, Friends, and Rome. The best movie I've recently seen had to be James Cameron's "Avatar", and let me say, seeing movies in 3d is totally worth a few extra dollars (not that I really want to pay it, but hey).
Overall, I'm not sure if I'll ever really have a set theme or point for this blog, but I'll do my very best to keep you all informed and entertained. I might review games, movies, books; I may talk about trips I've taken or countries I've visited; I might comment on technology, life, military, and friends; or even what's hot or interesting in the news, who knows. =)
So, rest, relax, and enjoy the show.
From your favorite Armchair Commando, adios and see you soon.
